Breathable handmade cotton kaftans for every day and every occasion

It depends on the fabric! Most of our kaftans are fully opaque. The ones made in cotton gauze (the Olena, Flora, Evelyn kaftans) are lightweight and semi-sheer – we recommend wearing them over a swimsuit or slip. Our Cotton Kaftan Collection uses five fabric types across the range: Double Gauze (ultra-soft, two-layer weave), Cotton Gauze (light, semi-sheer, perfect for beach), Jersey Cotton (stretchy, wrinkle-resistant), Woven Cotton (structured, holds its shape), and French Terry (soft loopback interior – our coziest option). Each product listing names the fabric so you can choose what suits you best.

Never. All our kaftans are 100% natural cotton and get softer with every wash. If anything, you'll love them more in six months than the day they arrive.

Absolutely – that's exactly what they're designed for. Cotton breathes naturally, packs light, and doesn't wrinkle badly in a suitcase. The gauze and double gauze styles are especially popular for beach holidays and tropical climates.

Our kaftans are one size fits most - up to 4XL with the standard width being 34" (68" around). That being said, we do offer a petite collection with slimmer silhouettes and provide custom hemming if the length you want isn't available.

We offer knee-length, midi, and maxi lengths depending on the style. Some of our more popular Mala Kaftans come in multiple lengths from petite to tall. Check out our Size Guide to find the right length for you. We also offer custom hemming.

Wash for the first time separately and in cold water to prevent color transfer.

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then hang to dry or tumble dry low. Avoid the dryer if possible — air drying keeps the cotton soft and the colours bright. For cotton gauze styles, a cold gentle wash is especially important to maintain the delicate weave.

Our kaftans are dyed or printed to last. Wash in cold water and avoid harsh detergents to keep colours vibrant wash after wash. If you have a printed style, turning it inside-out before washing helps preserve the print longer.
