I also had to pay VAT in Norway, because the VOEC number was not stated on the package. I did not receive the package with the kaftan until April 15. The fabric of the kaftan is comfortable, but unfortunately there is a small blue thread woven into the white fabric in the center front. I don’t think it’s worth the price-1,475.64 NOK/139,39 USD (including shipping and VAT)
All this together means that I only give three stars.
Not to be ghoulish, but I needed burial clothing for my partner and me for green burial. This means no plastic of any sort, even threads. I am exceedingly happy with the kaftans; they are well made and also lovely. It took quite a bit of reseach and I am SO GLAD I found Mala.

This is my second white one. The first one got mixed up with something red in the washer and had blotches of pink on it turned.

The quality is beautiful - the material is a little stiffer than I expected, even though it's beautiful and soft, but I suspect it'll soften and loosen over time. Right now the sleeves stick out and with my already quite broad shoulders it is a bit much, I keep wanting to pat them down to hang on my arms more gracefully. There isn't as much shape to this because of the material and can look boxy, so I think it would look especially good with a brown belt around the waist.
